The IONIQ 6, Hyundai’s electric sedan, considered one of the best cars in its class, has a lot of on-board technology developed by Hyundai Mobis.

Since it was launched in South Korea, Hyundai IONIQ 6 has been praised for its incredible driving comfort and dynamic performance.

Electrification for dynamic performance

The Hyundai IONIQ 6’s dynamic performance starts with its powerful engines. The engine mounted on the rear wheels has a maximum power of 168kW and a maximum torque of 350Nm and, depending on the trim, can be coupled with a 74kW engine that drives the front wheels in an all-wheel drive configuration. In this configuration, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 generates a maximum power of 239kW and a maximum torque of 605 Nm – enabling it to reach zero to 100km/h in just 5.1 seconds.

Developed by Hyundai Mobis, the Hyundai IONIQ 6’s battery system has a range of 524 km per charge and a fast charging system that can charge the battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. Hyundai Mobis supplies key components for Hyundai Motor Company’s electric vehicle platform, E-GMP, and has superior technological and mass production capabilities compared to other options available in the electrification sector.

Electronic steering for quiet and comfortable driving

The Hyundai IONIQ 6’s steering bar is equipped with R-EPS, a technology that uses an electric motor to steer the vehicle. Thanks to its high-power output and fast response time, R-EPS is also perfectly suited to electric vehicles equipped with a heavy battery system.

The R-EPS also features the low-friction design developed by Hyundai Mobis and anti-noise solutions to provide a quieter and more comfortable driving experience. The system also has duplicate ECUs (Engine Control Units), motors and sensors to ensure fail-safe operation.

Acoustic protection features for better driving and pedestrian safety

Electric vehicles are equipped with special AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alert System) sound systems, which generate artificial sounds on the outside of the vehicle, and e-ASD (Electric Active Sound Design). AVAS also compensates for road surface noise and wind noise outside the vehicle to facilitate a more comfortable driving experience, in addition to pedestrian safety.

While AVAS is a pedestrian-oriented system on the outside of the vehicle, e-ASD is a feature for not producing any engine noise. e-ASD considers the vehicle’s speed, the engine’s torque output, the driver’s acceleration intensity and other variables to optimize the sound inside the car. Hyundai Mobis developed the world’s first ADP (Acoustic Design Processor) that supports e-ASD and currently supplies the processors for Hyundai IONIQ 6.

Remote parking system

Parking your car is the last step in a smooth and comfortable drive. For the IONIQ 6, Hyundai Mobis currently supplies ADAS PRK 2.0, an updated version of its remote parking system.

Unlike conventional systems, the Hyundai IONIQ 6’s ADAS PRK 2.0 uses ultrasonic sensors to perform remote parking. This system can identify other cars parked nearby, as well as parking lines, and makes it possible to move the car forwards and backwards, park and recall the car using the smart key.

And finally, the Hyundai IONIQ 6 is also equipped with the PCA (Parking Collision Avoidance) – F/S/R system, which can recognize obstacles in front, to the side and behind the vehicle, and can perform emergency braking.

There are no plans to sell this vehicle in Brazil, or even to adopt these technologies in some of the models already sold by Hyundai in Brazil.
