Hyundai Mobis has consolidated its innovative display technologies to set a new standard for futuristic digital cockpits.
On June 11, Hyundai Mobis presented M.VICS 5.0 in South Korea, the latest version of its advanced integrated driving system, which includes digital cockpit technologies. Since the initial launch of the system in 2021, which analyzes biometric signals such as posture, heart rate and brain waves, Hyundai Mobis has continuously improved the concept with annual updates.
The digital cockpit, an infotainment system installed in front of the driver and passenger seats, offers various driving information and media content, as well as enabling external communication.
The newly introduced M.VICS 5.0, developed under the motto “All you can see”, focuses on the convergence of various display technologies. In terms of design, it seamlessly integrates the entire front panel, from driver to passenger, into a single cockpit with a large, borderless screen. This system includes technology that adjusts the size and angle of the screen according to the driving modes.
Panoramic multimedia adapted to driving situations
The M.VICS 5.0 system integrates a multiple panoramic screen that goes from the driver’s seat to the passenger’s seat, combining a 27-inch main screen, a 12.3-inch HD screen for the passenger and a 7-inch screen for vehicle status and controls.
Each display panel has been designed to function independently, according to its purpose and usage environment, but can also be integrated into a single screen when necessary, achieving a “separate but together” implementation. The enlarged screen allows the display of various contents, such as the dashboard, navigation and infotainment, surpassing passengers’ expectations of the current screens already available in vehicles.
These screens also adjust their size and angle according to the driving modes, adapting to different scenarios and situations, such as “Driving Mode”, “Theater Mode” and “Relaxation Mode”.
Complete solutions for drivers with safety features and relief from motion sickness
The large screen covering the front of the vehicle includes lighting technology on both sides to prevent accidents, warning of possible rear-end collisions when boarding or disembarking passengers. In addition, the colorful backdrops help to reduce the discomfort caused by the vehicle’s movement. Cameras positioned on the steering wheel and above the driver’s seat monitor drowsiness and inattention at the wheel in real time, issuing emergency warnings when necessary. Various safety and airbag technologies are also integrated into the system to warrant even more protection for the occupants.
The development of M.VICS 5.0 by Hyundai Mobis reinforces its focus on innovation, with nine new patents filed on parts and technologies for the best user experience (UX). With more than 1,700 patents already registered in 2023, Hyundai Mobis continues to develop its technological leadership in the future mobility sector.
Hyundai Mobis’ M.VICS 5.0 system is not expected to be available in vehicle models sold on the Brazilian market.
