PRESS RELEASE – Clarification Note

Hyundai Mobis informs that since January 16, 2026, it has been monitoring, with its entire team, each case of employees at the Piracicaba manufacturing plant who have presented symptoms of illness.

To date, the cause of the incident has not been confirmed. From the outset, the case has been monitored by the Health Surveillance Agency and the Piracicaba City Hall, where we are working side by side to resolve the case and restore the health of all those involved.

The Health Surveillance Agency visited the company for a health inspection and found no irregularities, confirming that the company had good sanitary conditions and complied with Good Food Handling Practices, with no immediate physical or procedural irregularities found.

Numbers

  • 211 cases of leave
  • 86 employees are on leave
  • No cases of hospitalization or death

Preventive measures

While continuously monitoring the health status of all employees at the facility, Hyundai Mobis has implemented immediate actions for all professionals:

  • Complete disinfection process of the company restaurant, in addition to a complete overhaul of the menu, prioritizing foods that minimize any risk of contamination;
  • Verification of chlorine levels in all drinking fountains at the unit;
  • Reinforcement of hygiene and disinfection procedures in all company facilities as a preventive measure to avoid any possibility of bacteria proliferation;
  • Supply of bottled water and sports drinks.

The company informs that a request for the water quality report for the days prior to the contamination has been filed with the Municipal Water and Sewage Service of Piracicaba (SEMAE). We emphasize that all water used in food preparation and consumption comes exclusively from the municipal public supply system, with no use of water from wells or alternative sources.

At the same time, the company is responsibly monitoring the care provided in hospitals and emergency rooms in the city, with the aim of understanding whether there are reports of similar symptoms in the general population and what those symptoms are.

As part of the investigation, samples of meals served in recent days, as well as water consumed at the facility, were sent for laboratory analysis to check for the possible presence of bacteria or any other agent that may have contributed to the reported symptoms. The estimated time frame for completing these analyses is up to two weeks.

Hyundai Mobis reinforces its commitment to transparency, the health of its employees, and the local community. As soon as the results are officially available, the company will make another public statement to provide additional clarification and avoid any misunderstanding.
