Hyundai Mobis recently announced the development of a new mobile sound system synchronized with the movement of the screen installed in the driver’s seat. This technology is part of the company’s strategy to create a unique interior design and warrant optimal sound quality in various display scenarios.
The mobile sound system is designed to work in sync with the mobile screen. Two years ago, Hyundai Mobis developed the world’s first mobile screen that moves up and down. This innovative technology features a large 30-inch screen that can be adjusted according to driving conditions, providing users with information such as navigation, music and videos. When the screen is in operation, speakers installed to the right, left and center of the front of the vehicle adjust their angle and move to minimize interference from surrounding sound waves and warranted optimal quality.
The rollable screen expands to its maximum size, allowing the driver and passengers to enjoy music and videos when the vehicle is idle or in autonomous mode. At this point, the mobile sound system reclines and directs the sound towards the vehicle’s windshield to avoid sound interference caused by the screen. On the other hand, the screen expands to only a third of its original size while driving to warranted that the driver’s vision remains unobstructed and that only a minimum of driving information is displayed. During this time, the speaker is oriented towards the driver, providing audio output. The position of the speaker is dynamically adjusted based on the dimensions of the screen to provide the best sound quality.
The new mobile sound system, synchronized with the display, stands out for its slim design, large screen and high resolution, reinforcing the company’s innovation and expertise in premium automotive technology.
Integrating new technologies
At this year’s CES, Hyundai Mobis presented a real vehicle with its transparent holographic screen on the windshield, which uses it as a screen without the need for physical display devices. It also has a range of the world’s first original premium vehicle systems, including rollable, swivel and QL screens.
The company is also making inroads into the global premium sound system market through a partnership with Meridian, a British audio pioneer, and is accelerating global open innovation to warranted special vehicle sound technologies.
In this way, Hyundai Mobis is presenting the integration of technologies in the field of IVI (In-Vehicle Infotainment) for user experience innovation and greater mobility convenience. Its next-level solution, which integrates its advanced display and sound system technologies, is an example. “Hyundai Mobis is delivering its differentiated brand value in the mobility sector through its innovative future-oriented products targeting the global market,” said Han Young-Hoon, head of the HMI Development Group at Hyundai Mobis.
The new technology is not expected to arrive on the Brazilian market.
