Hyundai Mobis has opened a new production facility dedicated to a global customer in Hungary, which is already fully operational.
The new plant will initially supply chassis modules for electric and hybrid vehicles to a German luxury automaker. It features flexible production lines capable of simultaneously producing components for electric, hybrid, and internal combustion vehicles, ensuring a rapid response to customers’ diverse production plans.
The chassis module refers to the set of components installed under the body, including the steering, braking, and suspension systems, as well as the integration of these systems directly into the vehicle’s chassis.
Hyundai Mobis’ new production facility in Kecskemét is located in central Hungary. Covering approximately 50,000 square meters, the plant operates under the Just-In-Sequence (JIS) system, enabling real-time processing of production plans for immediate manufacturing and delivery.
The trust earned through Hyundai Mobis’ proven track record—in terms of stable supply, advanced production technology, and high competitiveness in quality—has led to an expansion of supply to the European market.
Hungary produces more than 500,000 new vehicles annually and is home to numerous leading global automakers. Major German manufacturers already operate production facilities, while Chinese automakers and battery companies are driving large-scale investments. Korean battery companies are also strengthening their presence through additional investments to capture opportunities in this growing market.
Global Operations
Hyundai Mobis currently operates production facilities in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Turkey to supply essential modules and components to Hyundai Motor and Kia. The newly opened plant in Hungary, however, will serve as a production facility dedicated to global customers.
In addition, Hyundai Mobis is preparing to begin full-scale operations at its plant in Spain later this year to supply battery systems to another major global automaker. With this development, the company will have a total of five production bases in Europe, including the three existing facilities that supply Hyundai Motor and Kia. By establishing stable local production capabilities, Hyundai Mobis hopes to further strengthen its competitiveness in the region.
