The facility is Hyundai Mobis\u2019 first PE systems plant in Europe and the company\u2019s third production base for electrification components in the region, joining the Battery System Assembly (BSA) plants located in the Czech Republic and Spain.<\/p>\n<p>With this investment, Hyundai Mobis has begun mass production of PE systems\u2014the \u201cheart of the electric vehicle\u201d\u2014 in Europe, stepping up efforts to expand its presence in the region\u2019s electrification market.<\/p>\n<p>The PE system integrates an electric motor, inverter, and reduction gear into a single solution responsible for propelling electric vehicles. Following the production of battery system assemblies (BSAs) in the Czech Republic and Spain, the company will now begin producing and supplying PE systems in Slovakia, establishing a strategic foothold to deepen its partnerships with global automakers as they transition toward the mobility of the future.<\/p>\n<p>The opening ceremony brought together more than 100 guests, including Slovak government officials such as Prime Minister Robert Fico, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Denisa Sakov\u00e1, and Tren\u010d\u00edn Region Governor Jaroslav Ba\u0161ka, as well as representatives from the European Commission, customers, key suppliers, and the local media.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plant Structure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The new factory occupies a site of approximately 106,000 square meters\u2014equivalent to about 15 soccer fields\u2014and has a total floor area of 8,500 square meters. With production lines for stators\u2014an essential component of electric motors\u2014as well as inverters and other components, the facility has the capacity to produce up to 280,000 PE systems per year. The company invested a total of approximately 250 billion KRW (about US$187.1 million) to further enhance its production capabilities and ensure it is prepared to respond promptly to demand.<\/p>\n<p>At the event, Hyundai Mobis President Lee Gyu Suk stated: \u201cTo realize Hyundai Mobis\u2019 vision for the future, we will continue to invest and dedicate our efforts to establishing the Nov\u00e1ky PE systems plant as a key electrification hub in Europe. In the future, strategic models from global automakers equipped with Hyundai Mobis\u2019 PE systems will lead the European electrification market.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Advances in Electrification and Global Supply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The new Nov\u00e1ky plant is expected to serve as an integrated hub, capable of supplying key electrification components to Hyundai Motor and Kia, as well as to global customers. The opening reinforces Hyundai Mobis\u2019 global strategy to expand its presence in the world\u2019s major electrification hubs. Hyundai Mobis has developed its own core technologies and mass-production capabilities across the full range of electric vehicle (EV) components, including Battery System Assemblies (BSAs) and PE systems. Based on these capabilities, the company operates electrification production facilities at strategic locations in major regions around the world, including Ulsan, Daegu, Chungju, and Pyeongtaek in South Korea, as well as in the United States, the Czech Republic, Spain, and Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Hyundai Mobis is placing special emphasis on establishing strategic bases and support centers in Europe, recognizing the growth potential of the region\u2019s electric vehicle market\u2014the second largest in the world after China.<\/p>\n<p>The establishment of the electrification plant in Slovakia\u2014a country that is home to major operations of large global automakers\u2014represents a strategic decision to enhance the company\u2019s competitiveness and strengthen its ability to win new business in the electrification sector with global customers.<\/p>\n<p>The decision is also in line with the company\u2019s international expansion strategy; during CEO Investor Day, the company set a goal of increasing the share of revenue from global customers to 40% by 2033.
